The Australian Nursing Federation was established in 1924 and is the only nursing and midwifery organisation that provides members with full legal, professional and industrial representation as well as a wide range of other special member benefits for free.
There are 40,000 members in Western Australia -- making it the State's biggest industrial organisation by far, providing members the security of belonging to a prominent group.
Our core business is the industrial and professional representation of nurses, midwives and assistants in nursing where we pursue improvements for our members in wages, conditions and workloads.
In addition, we provide our members with numerous other benefits for no extra cost, including free online CPD, free merchandising, low cost holiday apartments in Margaret River and Kalbarri, journey cover insurance and professional indemnity insurance (in accordance with our Professional Indemnity Policy)
Since my appointment in October 2024, it has been a very busy time at the ANF.
I wanted to share a little information about myself.
I started my professional career in the corporate banking and accounting world, before following my dream to work in healthcare.
After my third child was born, I undertook studies of a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) and various other postgraduate studies. It wasn’t easy juggling a family, studying and working. I was however, determined to fulfill both my dreams and my duties as a mother, and my passion for working as a registered nurse. I later studied and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA), with a specialisation in Human Resource Management.
I have worked in various public and private hospitals and more recently worked on the surge project at WACHS, which involved over 1000 deployments of nurses and midwives to the regional and remote hospitals and healthcare settings throughout WA. I later managed an Aged Care Facility with over 100 residents and staff.
These qualifications make for a unique skill set as a Registered Nurse and MBA holder, and have awarded me both the business acumen and health sector knowledge to guide me in being an effective and empathetic State Secretary. Rest assured; your union is in safe hands!
Over and above my duties as State Secretary, I still work part-time as a Registered Nurse on weekends, I love working with my nursing and midwifery colleagues, and caring for our patients.
As a passionate advocate for the Nursing and Midwifery professions, I am committed to delivering exceptional results for our members, whether that be in Enterprise Agreements, legal, or other union services.
I take my responsibility in supporting our Nurses and Midwives of Western Australia with the utmost seriousness and urgency, and I want all our members to feel safe approaching the ANF.
With the support of both the ANFIUWP and ANMF Councils, we are united and driven in delivering the best outcomes for all our over 42,000 members across the Public and Private sectors.
Under my leadership, the ANF is working for our members for restored faith and confidence in the organisation. Working together we can achieve new heights for nurses, midwives and carers.
